Training and Education Measures

This Programme Action Line is closed now!

The programme action line aimed at building up and increasing the human resources required for ensuring the qualitative and quantitative growth of NANO in Austria. A first step was the integration of the NANO activities into “Forschung macht Schule”: The initiative "Forschung macht Schule" was jointly established in the beginning of 2008 by Christa Kranzl, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), and Dr. Claudia Schmied, Minister of Education (BMUKK), with the aim of encouraging the next generation of scientists in the areas of natural science and technology.
NANO Innovation Traineeships

A focus of the initiative "Forschung macht Schule" lay in the organisation and handling of innovation traineeships for pupils – girls and boys – in summer 2008. The pilot scheme "NANO Community" was launched by the Austrian NANO Initiative within the framework of the initiative "Forschung macht Schule". Highly talented pupils could take the opportunity to complete traineeships with a reference to nanotechnology or nanosciences in research-oriented companies as well as university and non-university research institutions throughout Austria.

The Austrian NANO Initiative was looking for traineeships during the months July to September 2008 for pupils who were concerned with nanotechnologies and nanosciences.
For financing the traineeships, the initiative "Forschung macht Schule" offered your institution an allowance of EUR 1,000 per place and month. The trainees had to receive a fee of at least EUR 700 gross per month.

The Austrian NANO Initiative furthermore guaranted additional activities of the community in form of a mentoring programme and support for an optimal and effective supervision of the pupils during the traineeship.

Pupils – girls and boys – who were interested in one of your traineeship positions applied online with CV and letter of motivation on the homepage www.forschungmachtschule.at.
